Try it; you’ll like it. That’s the expected reaction to the first web site in the world that allows individuals to view and analyze their own and competitors’ financials in the XBRL format, learn about interactive data, and get help with their first filing. Called Try XBRL, the website can help financial professionals get up to speed on interactive data, ahead of the SEC’s mandates.
Try XBRL has a “Learn” section for visitors to brief themselves on XBRL and on-going interactive data initiatives, regardless of whether they are new to the topic or a seasoned expert. For those ready to take the plunge, there’s a “File” section linking to the experts that can walk them through the process of submitting their first XBRL report to the SEC.
TryXBRL.com is a joint project of RR Donnelley and EDGAR Online. RR Donnelley is the largest and most experienced preparer of XBRL reports for U.S. companies, and EDGAR Online has the most comprehensive database of historical and current XBRL-tagged data on over 12,000 U.S. public companies. EDGAR Online’s web-based I-Metrix platform is used on the site to instantly perform the side-by-side financial comparisons.
